The home is new and artist owners have created some very unique features thru out the Inn. Try a relaxing nap in our cave which views the lake and is stuffed with comfy pillows. Have you ever seen a stained glass ceiling in a powder room or a ceiling that looks like clouds one minute and the next is northern lights. These are only a couple of the fun and unique features of the Inn. The home comforts elegance and rusticity in a uniquely blended way with two great rooms both facing the lake. Each great room provides a grand fireplace, cable TV and comfortable seating. The lower level great room has a bar, game table, poker table, guest kitchenette and walks out lake side to a cozy court yard surrounded by gardens. We have two themed guest rooms which gives a choice of elegance or rusticity, one room faces the lake, the other views the forest with majestic pines. Our in house suite is semi- private, like having a cabin it has a kitchen, bath and a separate entrance. This unit views the lake and the woods and also has a second lake view as the Inn sits on a penisula. We serve wine and cheese daily and a hearty four course breakfast. We offer in room coffee service, turn down service and you may have your breakfast served where ever you like, we have many places to choose from. You can't go wrong with a stay like this, before you even arrive you will feel the relaxing nature of the area we live. Rest and relaxation just comes with the territory here in the Chippewa. We can help you with any of your touring, adventure or shopping needs all you need to do is ask. Nearby you will find ATV trails, hiking trails and great hunting. In the winter months we offer over 200 acres of groomed cross country ski trails right out side our doors. The hot chocolate is always on and we moon light ski once a month with a bond fire after. We also have many snowmobile trails nearby and are only 10 miles from groomed trails. We have ice skating, ice fishing and spear fishing but please ask about these activities.     We are an experiential educational center that focuses on northern MN history era - mid 1600's through mid 1800's. We have a full size replica of a 1798 NWCo. Fur Post, along with a full shooting range, hawk range and primitive archery range, which are mostly used at the annual White Oak Rendezvous in August and History School Days in May. The public are invited at those times, as weel as in January, we'r are in our fifth year offering the White Oak Sled Dog Classic, which really has grown from the beginnings of 11 big fur trade type dogs who pull for fun, to the 8 & 10 team professional teams running up to 130 miles! This involves 6 area communities, namely Deer River, going to Gosh Dam Place, to Squaw Lake, to Northome, to Effie, Bigfork, and finishing at Marcell on Sunday forenoon. the professional teams added, has brought us up to 86 teams of dogs! Everyone volunteers to make these events happen for the surrounding communities. We also offer a very special Colonial Holiday Banquet on the second Saturday of December for the public. We can seat up to 50 in the dining hall and take reservations only. We also have dorm facilities for individuals or groups, in any season for a very modest price. Previously a student of Digital Photography at Itasca Community College and under the direction of Mr. David McDonald, Sandra Wicklund learned the basics of photography in correlation with art, journalism, public relations, and advertisement. She found her passion to lie mainly with photography in relation to public relations and art. Currently Sandra works as a Leadership Production Assistant at the Blandin Foundation. Her work there has allowed her to work on design and photography in regards to the redesign of their core curriculum (power point slides, handouts, trainer's manuals, etc.).
